In preparation for the "Diyarbakir in the Ottoman Times"; exhibition, I spent a great deal of time experimenting with traditional Diyarbakir symbols such as the double-headed eagle and the Mullein-Flower in combination with elements from my own work. This produced a number of interesting pieces, in which the eagle and the tulip form a single element. This set includes one special plate, in which I took the outline of the province of Diyarbakir which resembles the form of a "Kalkan" (turbot), and designed a plate using this motif as a dedication to this symbol of the city. Each plate is unique in shape and size. |
